What are the ingredients of this product?

The product mainly contains fossilized microscopic algae that lived in water millions of years ago. These fossils, referred to here as particles, are primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO2) along with small amounts of other minerals. Additionally, we have enriched the formula with select herbs that further support liver cleansing. Therefore, our product is 100% natural!

How does this product work?

After ingestion, the product moves through the digestive tract. During this journey, the particles physically destroy parasites and their eggs, which are then expelled from the body. This process is entirely mechanical; the rough texture of the particles causes damage and destruction of parasites through abrasion. Moreover, the cylindrical shells of the particles contain pores that absorb water from the environment, dehydrating the parasites and ultimately eliminating them. It is worth noting that the particles used are made of amorphous silica, meaning they are rounded and gentler on the pigeon’s digestive tract walls, causing no intestinal damage.

Veterinary studies

All pigeons were given the antiparasitic agent at a dose of 15 g per 1 kg of grain. The grain was moistened with Turbo Flight product from Pigeon Vitality. Before the experiment started and after 11 and 21 days, pigeon droppings were randomly collected from five points and examined for parasites using the McMaster method, which quantifies parasite eggs/oocysts per gram of feces.

Results

Three groups of parasites were identified in pigeon droppings: nematode eggs from the Capillaria family, nematode eggs from the Ascaridia family, and Eimeria sp. coccidia oocysts.

Conclusions from the experiments

Pigeon Vitality Natural Dewormer (PVND), when used as part of pigeons’ diet, significantly reduces the number of parasites in the digestive tract and leads — practically within 11 days — to complete elimination of Capillaria and Ascaridia nematode eggs. Activity against Eimeria sp. coccidia oocysts was also observed, with approximately 95% removed within 3 weeks.

Summary:

PVND is an effective agent for controlling internal parasites in racing pigeons. PVND eliminates 100% of Capillaria and Ascaridia nematode eggs within 11 days and removes 95% of Eimeria sp. coccidia oocysts within 21 days. No adverse side effects were observed in treated pigeons. On the contrary, young birds involved in the study showed increased activity during flight for the 3-week duration of the experiment. PVND offers an alternative to synthetic products for controlling internal parasites in pigeons and other captive birds. It is also environmentally friendly and safe for other birds.

How to use Pigeon Vitality Natural Dewormer?

We recommend using the product for 14-21 consecutive days before and after the breeding and racing seasons—for example, during autumn molting (also before winter breeding) and spring before the racing season.

A 3-week course is advised for all young birds about two weeks before their first flight (training can be done while feeding pigeons PVND mixed with grain).

Recommended dosage:

Add 2 level scoops (15 grams) per 1 kilogram of grain, previously moistened with Turbo Flight oil or another oil. Administer for 2-3 weeks.

Note about coccidia!

Although parasites will be removed after 2-3 weeks, complete elimination of coccidia should not be expected. If coccidia oocysts remain present in feces, additional coccidiostat treatment is recommended (for young and adult birds) two weeks before the racing season. We suggest Baycox (3 ml per liter of water for 2 days), which may be prescribed by a local veterinarian.
